Ensemble Recurrence

Formed in 2024 at the call of flutist Takahiro Uchiyama, this group brings together talented young musicians who have built their careers in the field of contemporary music. Composer and conductor Tetsuya Yamamoto serves as music director, and the group works on a variety of pieces based on diverse values, focusing on introducing cutting-edge music from Japan and abroad, as well as "classics of contemporary music" that have already gained recognition and become part of the global repertoire.

Ensemble Recurrence organizes its own performances twice a year.

One type of performance is an ensemble performance including a conductor. Held in small to medium-sized concert halls in Tokyo, these performances present creatively designed programs showcasing music that deserves to be heard today.

Another aspect is the small-scale performances, such as solo and chamber music, based at Ryogoku Monten Hall. Set in the downtown area of Tokyo, these performances share a compact and intimate space with the audience, sometimes incorporating talk segments, and delivering powerful performances at an almost touchable distance.

Furthermore, as a platform for collaboration with our highly skilled musicians, we commission new works from young composers and premiere them at our sponsored concerts. We are quick to recognize composers who have been recognized in composition competitions or who are attracting significant attention from the music world, and we propose opportunities for them to present their works to support their prolific creative output. While cherishing our existing repertoire, we also actively participate in the moment when new music is born, passing on the spirit of creativity to the next generation.
